If all you want to do is keep your finances in order then get Quicken Essentials for Mac. Many of the people that wrote the bad reviews want it to do the job of a full blown business accounting system, but the application is really for keeping track of PERSONAL finances. Quicken does for me what I need it to do, quickly and easily. I've read the bad reviews as well before buying it and after reading many of them decided these people want more than the application was designed to do. I am able to keep track of my budget and the application reminds me of upcoming bills and repeating transactions as well as forecast a few weeks into the future based on those repeating transactions. It can download transactions from my banks and updating my 401K is easy. I only use it for keeping track of things like checking, savings, keeping track of loans, my 401K. Quicken has been working great for me since April. I was able to transfer all my Quicken data from the PC without any issues at all. I ended up purchasing Quicken Essentials and it works great.

I wouldnt know how to balance my checkbook, or handle my complex transactions without it. But I wanted all my data at least from the beginning of the year. Quicken 2001 on old Mac to Quicken 2019 on PC I have been using Quicken since the early 1990s. If I wanted to start completely fresh, it may have been better. I tried, via a 30 day trial, iBank and transferring all my data was a nightmare.
